I'm not one for psychics. But when it comes to food, I'm quite the clairvoyant.
Struck with a mid-day inspiration to bake a pie, I'll later serve it to a friend who admits she's been craving pastry. Or, compelled to assemble a particular salad, I'll hear, "That's
exactly what I wanted."
The other day, my culinary sixth sense glimmered
banana bread, studded with chocolate chips. I discovered
this recipe, and got to baking.
Meanwhile, in an office building a mile away, my husband bit into a piece of store-bought banana bread with chocolate chips and thought,
hmmm, I'd love to come home to this. Which, hours later, he did.
The next time you get the inclination to bake gingerbread, or saute kale with sesame seeds, or simmer tomato sauce, follow it. Who knows? Maybe you're a food psychic too.
